EV NUMBER PLATE
What Is HSRP.
An aluminium licence plate that is electronically recorded and connected to your car is called a High Security Registration Plate (HSRP). A chromium-based Ashoka Chakra emblem in a blue hologram is included with a HSRP. The HSRP plate has a 10-digit PIN, or permanent identification number, etched in the lower-left corner using laser technology. The dimensions of the plate are 20 mm in length and 20 mm in breadth.
HSRP stands for High Security Registration Plate. It’s a type of number plate used in India that is designed to be more secure and tamper-proof than traditional number plates.
HSRPs have several distinguishing features:
- Laser Etching: The vehicle registration number is laser-etched into the plate, making it difficult to alter or remove.
- Hot Stamping: A hot stamping process is used to apply the state emblem and other markings on the plate, ensuring durability.
- Security Features: HSRPs often incorporate security features such as reflective materials, holograms, and microdots to prevent counterfeiting.
The introduction of HSRPs in India has been aimed at reducing vehicle theft, improving law enforcement efficiency, and streamlining the registration process.

According to MoRTH, HSRP plates will be necessary for all vehicles—new and old—beginning in 2022. Licence plates that are manufactured after April 2019 already have HSRP elements. Therefore, in 2022, High Security Number Plates must be obtained online or offline for cars that were bought before April 2019.
When registering an older car for the HSRP, the previously outlined procedures are followed. You can choose to apply online for a car registered in Delhi or in Uttar Pradesh.
